The Beekeeper's Story

Savannah Bee Company began with founder Ted Dennard's childhood fascination with bees and the tupelo trees of southern Georgia. What started as a passion project β€” with Dennard's Tupelo Honey first sold in a friend's Savannah store in 1999 β€” grew into a formally incorporated company in 2002. Today, Savannah Bee Company has expanded into a nationally distributed brand with 16 retail stores, a robust e-commerce platform, and a growing presence in grocery and specialty food stores, including a 2026 partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market nationwide. Beyond honey, the company is a champion for bee conservation. Dennard co-founded the nonprofit The Bee Cause Project, which has installed more than 1,200 beehives in schools across the country to support STEM education through beekeeping. The company has also worked to restore honeybee populations in the Bahamas by providing equipment, marketing, and education to aspiring beekeepers. With every purchase, Savannah Bee Company aims to inspire a community of 'bee champions' dedicated to protecting pollinators and their vital habitats.
