Tropical Blossom Honey Co., Inc. is a multi-generational family-owned honey packing company based in Edgewater, Florida, founded in 1940 by David K. and Helen McGinnis. The company specializes in premium Florida varietal honeys — including orange blossom, tupelo, saw palmetto, gallberry, and wildflower — sourced from beekeepers across the state and shipped worldwide. Known for their signature globe jar and unfiltered, uncooked artisanal honey, they produce 3–4 million pounds of honey per year.

The Beekeeper's Story

The Tropical Blossom Honey Co. story began in 1937 when David and Helen McGinnis moved from the mountains of West Virginia to the coast of Central Florida. Living with David's uncle in a backwoods cabin, David learned beekeeping to increase pollination in the family's citrus groves. The beehives thrived in Florida's subtropical climate, and Helen began bottling the surplus honey to sell at tourist outlets near Daytona Beach — and a business was born. The company was formally established in 1940 and has operated from the same Edgewater, FL location ever since. Over the decades, the McGinnis family expanded far beyond Volusia County. Doug McGinnis, who rejoined his parents' business in 1976, curates Florida honey varietals from 36 beekeepers across the state. The company gained international recognition through appearances at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City (since 1959) and has shipped honey to Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Japan. Tropical Blossom also holds OU Kosher certification, reflecting their commitment to quality and global market access. Today the factory store in Edgewater offers honey tastings, honeycomb, bee pollen, beeswax candles, and gift products.
