Melvea
🐝

Third-generation Appling County apiary producing acclaimed gallberry honey — a mild, light varietal unique to the Southeast.

The Beekeeper's Story

What began roughly 12 years ago when Josh Sanders traded a deer rifle for ten beehives has grown into a thriving, vertically integrated family business. Josh, Jamie, and their three children oversee every step from hive to sale, operating a bustling retail shop at 1014 Plant Ave in Waycross, Georgia. Their motto — 'Nothing added...nothing taken away...always' — reflects their commitment to pure, unfiltered honey. At times Josh transports hives to Tennessee or Florida to collect honey of different varieties. In 2020 they opened their storefront in a renovated auto service building, which now also hosts a local coffee shop and ice cream service, embodying their dedication to community and supporting other small Georgia farmers and businesses.
