Pure Southern Honey is a multi-generational, family-owned beekeeping operation based in South Georgia, producing 100% raw, unfiltered, singly sourced, and never-heated honey. Their honey is derived exclusively from their own thousands of beehives, foraging on native Southeast Georgia flora including Gallberry, Tupelo, Blackgum, and Palmetto flowers. Formerly known as Deep South Honey, the brand rebranded in 2019 and expanded from bulk and pollination services to direct-to-consumer retail.
The Beekeeper's Story
Pure Southern Honey (formerly Deep South Honey until a 2019 rebrand) is a family-owned business located in South Georgia with generations of beekeeping heritage. For years, the operation focused primarily on producing and selling honey in bulk along with providing pollination services to farmers. After identifying a need for high-quality honey in retail stores, the family decided to offer their honey directly to consumers. Their honey is produced solely from their 4,000 beehives spread across 50,000 acres, foraging on Gallberry, Tupelo, Blackgum, and Palmetto flowers native to Southeast Georgia — giving it a distinctive flavor and longer shelf life compared to average honey. The brand has gained national recognition, including a feature in the Summer 2021 edition of Southern Living Magazine, and holds OU Kosher certification. All containers are hand-filled by the family to ensure quality control at every step.
