Monastery Greetings is a US-based online retailer founded in 1999 and headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, that serves as the only website in the USA devoted to selling products exclusively from abbeys, convents, monasteries, and hermitages. Among their honey offerings, they sell creamed honeys produced by Trappist monks at Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, Virginia, using locally sourced honey that is naturally crystallized to a soft, spreadable, butter-like texture.

The Beekeeper's Story

Founded in 1999 by Will Keller, Monastery Greetings was created after its founder contacted hundreds of monasteries and religious organizations and discovered the difficulty they had in promoting and selling the products they made to support their missions. The company has grown into a website carrying approximately 500 products, operating out of an 8,000 sq ft warehouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The honey sold through Monastery Greetings comes primarily from Holy Cross Abbey (The Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Cross) in Berryville, Virginia — a Trappist (Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance) monastery established after the original monastery in Valley Falls, Rhode Island burned down in 1950. The monks found a new home in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia on land originally surveyed by George Washington, where they now produce their signature creamed honeys alongside other monastic goods.
