The Beekeeper's Story

Crystal's Honeys is part of Merrimack Valley Apiaries Inc. (MVA), a family-owned honeybee farm founded in Billerica, MA in 1958 by Alice and Andy Card Sr. and their partners Ruth and Stewart Chaney of Dunstable, MA. The business grew from a single hive purchased from the Sears and Roebuck catalog, with early income derived from hive rentals for pollinating apples, blueberries, and cranberries across New England. In 1985, Crystal and Andy Card Jr. took over MVA, later expanding to honey production farms in Western New York and acquiring a Louisiana operation (now Evergreen Honey Company), growing into one of the largest honeybee farms in the nation. In 2006, the Crystal's Raw Honey brand was created as a direct-to-consumer alternative to industrially processed honey, with a mission to offer unblended, single-source honey local to each market area.
