The Beekeeper's Story

Bruce's Nut-N-Honey Farm, LLC was established in 1980 by Ben Bruce's father, who began with a single hive as a hobbyist beekeeper. As the hive count grew year after year, the hobby evolved into a thriving commercial business. Ben grew up working alongside his father — learning to manage hives, extract honey, and package product — and eventually took over the operation after completing school. Under Ben's leadership, the farm has grown to over 2,000 colonies situated in the untamed forests of rural South Georgia, near towering pine trees, lavish palmettos, and wildflower undergrowth on the boundaries of the Okefenokee Swamp. The farm's primary focus is the production of rare comb honey — cut directly from the hive and sold in its purest, unheated form. Their 'Private Selection' honey, derived from the drippings of cut comb, won the prestigious UGA Flavor of Georgia Award. The farm also migrates bees to Florida to produce Orange Blossom Honey and to California for almond orchard pollination. Operating as a true family affair, Ben's wife, parents, and other relatives help with packing and running The Honey Shack retail store. The business wholesales honey to stores across the country and also operates an online shop and Amazon storefront, shipping comb honey all over the United States.
