Stubbees (operating as Stubbees Beestro) is a bee-themed café and apiary run by beekeeper Cody Stubbe and his wife Stephanie on St. Joseph Island, Ontario. Cody produces local island-made honey from his own hives and sells it in-store alongside food and desserts crafted with it. The operation began as a beekeeping hobby in 2018 and has grown into a ~3,000-pound-per-year honey enterprise with around 65 hives.

The Beekeeper's Story

Cody Stubbe, a lifelong St. Joseph Islander, started beekeeping in 2018 as a hobby with just two hives, harvesting under 100 pounds of honey in his first year. Over the years he taught himself to breed bees, graft his own queens, and scale up, eventually reaching approximately 65 hives and a 3,000-pound annual harvest. When his parents purchased a building at Kent's Corners in Richards Landing — which also houses his mother Carol-Ann's bee-themed Bee Joyful Sewing shop — Cody and Stephanie saw the opportunity to open Stubbees Beestro in the vacant restaurant space in January 2024. The Beestro is a bee-themed eatery offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner with honey-infused dishes and desserts, while also selling Cody's locally produced St. Joseph Island honey directly to customers.
