The Beekeeper's Story

Sarah's Alaska Honey is a family-run business located at 33735 Gas Well Rd in Soldotna, Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula. Their bees thrive in the Kenai region where the primary surplus nectar flow comes from the Fireweed plant, producing a honey that is notably light in color and taste. The operation is deeply rooted in natural beekeeping — they never use pesticides, chemicals, or antibiotics on their bees or equipment, though they are not formally certified organic. Beyond honey production, owner Sarah McElrea has become a central figure in the Alaska beekeeping community: she coordinates package bee shipments on behalf of hundreds of Alaskan beekeepers statewide and teaches beginner beekeeping classes across the region from the Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage and beyond. The farm is a certified member of the Alaska Grown program.
