North Dallas Honey Company is a historic local honey brand founded in 1972 by Fred Richardson in the Dallas/Frisco, Texas area, producing local, pure, raw, and unfiltered honey. The company was later acquired in 1997 by Nathan Sheets, who eventually rebranded it as Nature Nate's Honey Co., now the top-branded honey company in the United States.

The Beekeeper's Story

North Dallas Honey Company was founded in 1972 by Fred Richardson, who operated roughly 100 beehives in the Dallas and Plano, Texas area. The company sold local, pure, raw, and unfiltered honey primarily for enjoyment and allergy relief, with a faith-based mission at its core. In 1996–1997, Nathan Sheets — a marketer and hobbyist beekeeper — began helping Richardson with his hives after Richardson's health declined. Richardson offered to sell Sheets the company, and Sheets purchased it in September 1997. Sheets continued running the North Dallas Honey brand, eventually going full-time in 2010, and subsequently rebranded the company as 'Nature Nate's Honey Co.' to enable national growth beyond the regional 'North Dallas' identity. The original North Dallas Honey Company entity (LP/LLC) continues to exist as a legal entity associated with the Nature Nate's/Sweet Harvest Foods corporate family.
