Mitica is the proprietary specialty food brand of Forever Cheese, a US-based importer headquartered in New York City. The brand imports a curated selection of raw, monofloral honeys sourced from artisan beekeepers in Italy and Spain, positioning them primarily as gourmet cheese accompaniments.

The Beekeeper's Story

Forever Cheese was established in 1998 by co-founders Michele Buster and Pierluigi Sini, initially focused on importing Italian cheeses. In 2003, they launched the Mitica® brand to unify their expanding portfolio of Mediterranean specialty foods — cheeses, honey, nuts, charcuterie, and more — under one name. 'Mitica' is a Latin/Romance word meaning 'mythic,' reflecting the brand's pursuit of exceptional, authentic products. Their Italian honey line is produced exclusively by award-winning beekeepers Fabrizio and Pierpaolo Cazzola of Apicoltura Cazzola, based in Altedo in the Province of Bologna, Emilia Romagna. The brothers manage between 3 and 400 hives using a nomadic beekeeping approach, moving bees to different bloom locations to produce distinctive monofloral varieties. Mitica also sources raw Spanish honeys (Lavender, Orange Blossom, Chestnut) from producers in regions like Murcia and Asturias.
