Mickelberry Gardens is a Portland, Oregon-based honey and herbal wellness brand founded by husband-and-wife team Matt and Madelyn Morris in 2011. They source 100% raw, single-source honey exclusively from small-scale Pacific Northwest beekeepers, and craft a line of herbal honey tonics, sprays, beeswax skin care, bee pollen, and propolis products. As a certified B-Corp, they are committed to sustainability, local sourcing, and supporting the regional beekeeping community.

The Beekeeper's Story

Mickelberry Gardens began in 2007 when Matt and Madelyn Morris took a class in organic beekeeping and established two hives in their Portland backyard. Their apiary grew to 7 hives before Madelyn discovered she was severely allergic to bee stings, prompting them to relocate the bees to a 30-acre organic farm in Troutdale, Oregon managed by Farmer Dave. There, Matt expanded to 20 hives, producing a surplus of honey, beeswax, and propolis. Madelyn's passion for garden medicine and folk remedies led her to begin crafting infused honeys, beeswax salves, and herbal concoctions in the kitchen. The response to their products was overwhelmingly positive, and they formally launched Mickelberry Gardens as a business in 2011. They expanded into farmers markets across Portland, wholesale to naturopathic clinics and co-op groceries, and launched an online store. In February 2019, they moved into a larger facility at 12450 NE Marx Street in Northeast Portland, housing offices, production space, and a factory store. Today they employ a staff of eleven, raise bees in several yards and farms, and are a certified B-Corp committed to community, sustainability, and making herbal honeybee products that are both healing and delicious.
