L.L. Lanier & Sons Tupelo Honey is a fifth-generation family honey farm based in Wewahitchka, Florida, producing pure, raw, unfiltered White Tupelo honey from hives along the Apalachicola River swamps since 1898. They are widely regarded as Florida's first and finest tupelo honey producer, harvesting honey entirely by hand from hive to table without mixing with other honeys.

The Beekeeper's Story

Founded in 1898 by L.L. Lanier Sr. along the banks of the Apalachicola River in the Florida Panhandle, the Lanier family has been producing authentic tupelo honey for five consecutive generations. Ben Lanier's great-grandfather, Benjamin T. Lanier, began bee operations with borrowed money and a dream of delivering Tupelo Honey to the community, and the business has been passed from son to son ever since. Ben and his wife Glynnis have run the operation since 1991, farming 600 acres along the river swamps where the world's greatest concentration of white tupelo trees grows. The farm gained wider fame when Ben served as consultant and trainer for Peter Fonda for his Oscar-nominated role in the 1997 film 'Ulee's Gold,' which was filmed on Lanier land. The farm prides itself on producing pure, clean tupelo honey that is never blended with other honeys and does not granulate due to its high fructose content. Ben plans to pass the tradition to his son Heath, keeping the legacy alive for a sixth generation.
