Kirkland Signature is Costco's private label brand, offering a range of honey products including raw unfiltered US honey, organic raw honey, and wildflower honey. Their honey lineup carries certifications such as True Source Certified and USDA Organic, and is sourced from domestic and international suppliers including the US, Brazil, and Argentina.
The Beekeeper's Story
Launched in 1995, Kirkland Signature is Costco's sole private-label brand, named after the city of Kirkland, Washington, where Costco's headquarters were located at the time. The brand was created with the goal of offering name-brand quality at lower prices, and today accounts for roughly one-third of Costco's total sales. For honey specifically, Kirkland Signature sources its products from multiple suppliers and regions: the 100% U.S. Raw Unfiltered Honey is partially supplied by Colorado-based Rice's Honey, which works with a network of beekeepers across the country; the Wildflower Honey is a Grade A product sourced from Argentina and is True Source Certified; and the Organic Raw Honey (sold in bear-shaped bottles) is sourced from Brazil and carries USDA Organic certification. Costco previously labeled some of its honey as '100% Local' but switched to the broader '100% U.S.' designation after a recall due to inaccurate sourcing labels.
