The Beekeeper's Story
Pontus Jakobson, a third-generation beekeeper from Sweden, grew up learning the craft from his father Torbjörn and grandfather Björn — the namesake of the business. After seasonal beekeeping in Europe and a backpacking trip through Southeast Asia where he met his now-wife Lara (originally from Denver), the couple settled in Boulder, Colorado, where Pontus returned to what he knew best. Together, Pontus and Lara built Björn's Colorado Honey into a thriving operation, maintaining hives throughout Boulder and Weld Counties — including at Johnson's Knife Sharpening in Lafayette, Kiowa Valley Organics in Roggen, and Miller Farms in Platteville. What began modestly at farmers markets in 2012–2013 has grown to multiple retail locations across Colorado, including stores at the Denver International Airport, Boulder's Pearl Street Mall, Fort Collins, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Vail, and Littleton. Their signature Propolis Honey — originally created by Pontus's father in Sweden — remains their most popular product, and their philosophy centers on using all hive byproducts including propolis, pollen, beeswax, and royal jelly.
