APIVITA (meaning 'life of the bee') is a Greek natural cosmetics and wellness brand founded in 1979 by pharmacists Nikos and Niki Koutsianas, headquartered at the Industrial Park of Markopoulo, Attica, Greece. The brand uses honey, propolis, royal jelly, and beeswax from its own sustainably managed hives alongside Greek botanical extracts; while primarily a cosmetics company, it also produces edible honey (notably thyme honey) and beekeeping wellness products.

The Beekeeper's Story

Founded in Athens in 1979 by two pharmacists inspired by the bee society, Greek nature, and Hippocrates' holistic approach to health, APIVITA began with their first product — a propolis and thyme soap — made in their own pharmacy. The name 'Apivita' derives from the Latin 'apis' (bee) and 'vita' (life). Since 2013, the company has operated from a state-of-the-art bioclimatic headquarters at the Industrial Park of Markopoulo, Attica, where production, R&D, beehives, and botanical gardens coexist under one roof powered by 100% renewable energy. APIVITA practices sustainable beekeeping, harvesting only 40% of hive production and moving their hives seasonally — from the almond trees of Attica to the mountains of Arcadia and the fir trees of Mount Mainalo. Since 2017, APIVITA has been certified as the first B Corp company in Greece and is now part of the PUIG Group, selling products in over 14 countries worldwide.
