The Beekeeper's Story

Founded in 2017 by Patrick Cotter, Alaska Honey Collective began after he spent a couple of years keeping bees as a hobby in Fairbanks. He recognized that many part-time Alaskan beekeepers wanted to sell their honey but lacked the resources, time, or money to market and sell it themselves. The Collective was created to handle the marketing and e-commerce side so beekeepers could focus on their bees — billing itself as the only online local honey marketplace in Alaska. The business expanded beyond sales to include beekeeping management services, hive hosting, and beehive 'shares' for those who want locally sourced honey without the time commitment of beekeeping. About half of their customers are in the Lower 48 states, drawn by the mystique and unique flavor of Interior Alaska honey, particularly its fireweed character.
